Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. (hereafter Toppan Printing) has taken yet another step forward in its long-term commitment to the U.S. market by announcing the decision to construct a new plant in Griffin, Georgia's first eco-friendly park, that will utilize the most innovative technology to produce environmentally friendly packaging. With the launch of the new plant, Toppan Printing will bolster its capacity to supply transparent barrier films, including GL Film, to food, electronic and medical packaging manufacturers in North America and Europe and further expand its business by taking advantage of the new plant’s location.
Demand for barrier films is expected to grow in the U.S. market, where large structural shifts are taking place in the food packaging industry, such as a need for longer shelf lives brought on by changes in lifestyles, and a switch from glass bottles and metal cans to flexible packaging. Due to these environmental considerations, Toppan Printing is anticipating further expansion of demand for barrier films in the global packaging market.
Toppan Printing will invest nearly $100 million into the manufacturing site for its “Going Green” initiative and has expanded many of it's subsidiaries throughout regions of the U.S. in the past couple years. Through the launch of Toppan Vite New York in 2013—a leading financial printer managing mission-critical content for capital markets transactions, financial reporting and regulatory compliance filings, and investment company and insurance communications—Toppan Printing has strived to bring faster, better service to financial entities in the U.S. market, in an environmentally conscious and technologically forward way.
Toppan Printing is aiming to commence mass production at its “green” transparent barrier film manufacturing site in March 2016.
Toppan Printing has about 80 subsidiaries in Asia, Europe, and the United States with combined sales of roughly $18 billion.
